Outdoor Hospitality Industry

The Outdoor Hospitality Industry finds a new road.

 

Objective:

The National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds came to Mekanic at a crossroads. After over 50 years of representing the owners, operators, and staff of North America’s RV destinations, their membership has expanded to include many kinds of recreation: camping, glamping, RVs, tent camping, and much more. They needed a new inclusive name, brand, and website that could bring all their expanded resources to these new audiences and help lead the outdoor hospitality industry into the future.

 

Strategy:

Knowing that the audience had shifted and grown, the Mekanic team sought to understand the outdoor hospitality industry and how destination owners could use help, direction, and resources. There was a need to modernize and expand the brand, so we sought inspiration from other brands in the outdoor and recreation industry and spent considerable time with the organization’s membership, staff, and leadership.

Tactics:

Over the course of several months, the Mekanic team conducted research to determine a new name for ARVC – eventually settling on OHI – standing for Outdoor Hospitality Industry. Alongside OHI, we worked to develop new messaging, updated design, and a vibrant new website where the OHI brand could live online. We developed messaging that was aspirational and a design that complimented the scenic, rustic, and accessible nature of OHI’s member destinations – for a design that was ultimately both modern and authentic.

 

Outcome:

The new OHI brand was launched at 2023’s OHCE industry event and was unanimously well-received by both OHI members and greater industry partners.
