As the recreational cannabis market took off in Oregon, a community of craft cannabis farmers in Southern Oregon wanted to ensure their natural, sustainable practices could compete with larger-scale growing operations. As the community banded together to defend their legal rights to grow and operate in the face of local opposition, they found a new opportunity to highlight the uniqueness of their products and process through a cooperative brand.
F.A.R.M.S. Inc. started as a legal network to influence policies that threatened their rights to grow small-volume legalized crops on their own land. By finding they had much in common and power in numbers, they pursued a cooperative brand that could be sold at a larger scale, offer more variety, and consistent quality. In partnership with Mekanic, they pursued a brand and marketing strategy that could position them as a locally-grown, high-quality product with a focus on educating new cannabis consumers and satisfying cannabis connoisseurs alike.
We developed a brand identity that would convey a free-spirited, natural, organic quality while also exploring marketing opportunities that could help customers learn about cannabis in a welcoming, non-judgmental format. The brand wordmark is a gentle balance between sans-serif and script typefaces, which stands out but places emphasis on beautiful regional photography and the brand’s message. We developed iconography, packaging designs solutions, and sales enablement tools that would help dispensaries and their customers have better conversations around a customer’s unique needs, questions, and the kinds of products F.A.R.M.S. Inc. offers. With the flexible new website we designed, F.A.R.M.S. Inc. is able to keep its community and sales prospects informed of their policy news and product information.
